CHITRAL: A protest meeting was held on Sunday in PIA Chowk Chitral city against the unscheduled load shedding in the area which has crippled the public life activities.

The leaders of power action committee, Khan Hayatullah Khan, Qari Jamshed Ahmed, Abdul Nasir Khan, Kausar Chughtai advocate and others criticized the government for its failure to provide electricity to the district despite the galore of water resources.

They warned that if the situation is not improved within a week time, then the people will turn to violence.

They also chanted slogans against the elected representatives of the area including MNA Shahzada Mohyuddin and MPA Salim Khan who, they alleged, were minting money instead of solving the people’s problems.

They asked them to tender their resignation from their assembly membership in recognition of their utter failure.

The speakers also enumerated the other problems faced by the people of Chitral town which included scarcity of fuel wood and inordinate delay in the construction of bye-pass road and change in its design. (By Zahiruddin)
