CHITRAL: The elites of different valleys of Chitral have welcomed the decision of former President Pervaiz Musharraf for contesting elections from Chitral in the forthcoming  general election and said that the people of Chitral will vote for their benefactor who built Lowari tunnel for them.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Sultanuddin, Siddique Ahmed, Nazeneen Shah, Shahabud Din and others said that Pervaiz Musharraf who initiated work on Lowari tunnel to provide them with an all-weather road and open new venues of development for them. They said that the people of Chitral will never forget the former general who had given due  priority to this neglected and backward district in the sphere of development and launched many other projects in addition to the Lowari tunnel which included Gilgit-Chitral road via Shandur Pass, Atahk irrigation channel, suspension bridge in Mastuj and many others.

They said that Pervaiz Musharraf will win the election with thumping majority as the people of different political parties are showing enthusiasm for supporting him. The elites asked the former general to go ahead with his idea of contesting election from Chitral and take it as his ‘home constituency’ where people are eager to receive him. They also thanked the local MNA Shahzada Mohiuddin and district president of APML Shahzada Khalid Pervaiz for extending invitation to the former president of Pakistan to contest election on behalf of the people of Chitral which he accepted.
