Separate academic calendar sought for Chitral

p>CHITRAL: The local academicians have said that government should set up a separate Chitral-specific education calendar so that students of the district can get maximum time to attend colleges. “The present academic calendar, adopted since the independence of the country, virtually provides only three to four months for teaching activities in the educational institutions,” they told Chitraltimes.com here on Thursday. Dr Inayatullah Faizi, teacher at a public sector college, said that students of Chitral couldn’t complete courses due to prolonged and extended winter in the district. He said that Chitral should have a separate board of intermediate and secondary education to adopt a new academic calendar so that local students could get maximum time to complete their courses. Town power committee urged on chairman Wapda to vow his promise of

CHITRAL:  A protest rally was held by members of Town Power committee who working for restoration of power and up gradation of local hydro power station. Later on they gathered at PIA square which was converted into a public meeting under the chair of Khan Hayatullah Khan President of power committee. Addressing on the occasion the speakers urged on chairman wapda Shakeel Durrani to fulfill his promise of up-gradation of local hydro power house from 600 KV to 2 Megawatt. Karachi: Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that neither Sunni nor Shia are involved in recent violence in Karachi instead it is a conspiracy to destabilize Pakistan. Closure of borders has negative impact on Chitral economy

CHITRAL: As a result of sealing the borders of Chitral with Kunar province of Afghanistan towards the end of last year, the volume of trade activities has constricted to its lowest ebb rendering a number of people jobless. Talking to Chitraltimes.com here on Wednesday, a number of businessmen said that the Kunar province and Nooristan area depended on Chitral for the commodities of daily use and medicines.
