		<description><![CDATA[CHITRAL: Realising the danger faced by people of Chitral due to avalanches, a local youth has invented a machine to warn about movement of avalanche in mountains and highlands.
“It will help to minimise the devastation caused by avalanches,” said Mohammad Khalid, who has a master degree in electronics from University of Peshawar.
He claimed that he had put the machine to proper experimental verifications. “The machine can preempt movement of an avalanche within a radius of one kilometer. It will also help to remove the potential danger of floods caused by avalanches and glacier outbursts,” he claimed.
Mr Khalid told our correspondent  that the machine worked on the principle of resonance. It could be used to preempt the uncontrolled sliding and slipping of snow mass down the mountains to human settlements, he said.
Resonance is a natural phenomenon in which a system vibrates with larger amplitude when synchronised with the frequency of another.

District officer of livestock department, Dr. Muhammad Riaz was of the opinion that the problem can be addressed to effectively by vaccination against the diseases of hemorrhagic syndrome, enterotoxaemia and new castle which attacked the cattle, goats and poultry respectively. 		<description><![CDATA[ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Friday that the government is committed to working for the welfare of journalists. She was talking to a Chitral media delegation that called on her here. Firdous Ashiq Awan said the government has provided conducive environment to media so that they can perform their duties in a professional manner. The government, she said believes in freedom of expression as free and responsible media guarantees strong democracy and institutions.
She said the government is also establishing a media university with an aim to provide journalists training on most modern lines. Establishment of the university would help to enhance capabilities of journalists, she maintained.
Firdous Ashiq said the government is well aware of the problems being faced by journalists, working in far-flung areas of the country. She pointed out that journalist victim fund has been established by the government.

		<description><![CDATA[p>CHITRAL: The local academicians have said that government should set up a separate Chitral-specific education calendar so that students of the district can get maximum time to attend colleges. 
“The present academic calendar, adopted since the independence of the country, virtually provides only three to four months for teaching activities in the educational institutions,” they told Chitraltimes.com here on Thursday.
Dr Inayatullah Faizi, teacher at a public sector college, said that students of Chitral couldn’t complete courses due to prolonged and extended winter in the district.
He said that Chitral should have a separate board of intermediate and secondary education to adopt a new academic calendar so that local students could get maximum time to complete their courses.
Colleges are closed in Chitral for winter vacations in the early days of December and reopened in the month of March next while examinations are held in the months of April and May.

Talking to media on Wednesday, the minister said that the terrorists belonging to Chitral, Gilgit and adjacent areas were involved in the Karachi targeted killing .However, he said people of Chitral and Gilgit should not bother as the terrorists would be arrested soon.
Replying a query regarding murder of Balochistan MPA’s wife and his daughter, Mr Malik said that he had sought a report within seven days in this regard.
