Closure of borders has negative impact on Chitral economy

CHITRAL: As a result of sealing the borders of Chitral with Kunar province of Afghanistan towards the end of last year, the volume of trade activities has constricted to its lowest ebb rendering a number of people jobless. Talking to Chitraltimes.com here on Wednesday, a number of businessmen said that the Kunar province and Nooristan area depended on Chitral for the commodities of daily use and medicines. Haji Muhammad Shifa from Drosh town said that the people of Nooristan and Kunar used to come to the town on daily basis to purchase the commodities including pulses, ghee, rice, sugar and other food items but the process had been stopped after the attck of Taliban on the security check posts in August last. CHITRAL: A protest meeting was held on Sunday in PIA Chowk Chitral city against the unscheduled load shedding in the area which has crippled the public life activities. The leaders of power action committee, Khan Hayatullah Khan, Qari Jamshed Ahmed, Abdul Nasir Khan, Kausar Chughtai advocate and others criticized the government for its failure to provide electricity to the district despite the galore of water resources. CHITRAL: An emergency meeting of town power committee was held at Mordeh Mosque under the chair of Khan Hayatullah Khan Chairman power committee. PTA notified new fare rates on City District Routes

PESHAWAR: The Provincial Transport Authority (PTA) has notified new fare rates on Inter/Intra City/District Routes in light of CNG price of Rs. 75/- per Kilogram to pass on the relief to the traveling passengers. The PTA has asked all the Secretaries Regional Transport Authorities (RTAs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to display these new rates at visible places in General Bus Stands at their jurisdiction and inside passenger vehicles for information of transporters and passengers respectively. It has also asked that violating transporters and drivers be booked to ensure strict compliance accordingly.
